What types of music can be played on the accordion?

Contrary to what many believe, the accordion can do lots more than play polkas. Any piece of music that requires melody and harmony can be played on the accordion, whether simple or complex. Because it is tuned to a Western tempered scale, it cannot play Arab, Indian or Indonesian music, unless, that it is, it is hooked to a sound module that allows microtones to be played.
